88' Southwind coach power problem Dave C 4-5-01
88's Southwind stopped charging the coach batteries either from shore power or generator. Maybe. Odd part is that I have dim coach lights, not enough amps for the TV, and very slow fresh water pump noise, then mysteriously the lights will go full bright, the pump then acts fine, and tv will run. Then shortly, all will dim again. All this while at a stop with no outside reason, no hookup, no generator, no engine running. It just does it while sitting there. Cycling the coach batteries disconnect switch off and on can sometimes bring it out of it's spell, but not always. Sounds like short or defective converter or something?? Need help troubleshooting this. Anybody else experience this with a Southwind?

The transfer relay inside your converter is pitted and making poor contact. One can emery paper the contacts for a short term fix. But you should replace it.To test the theory tap the converter cover with your hand firmly. you should see the lights flicker. If you need more help please post at forum at the link.
Re: 97 Flair with new 6 volts but still no lights inside Pat 9-9-08
I replaced the two 6 v batteries but even though there is a click when the Aux battery switch is turned on, there is no power to the lights or 12 v system.
Help???

Thanks, will try that. Heard from a friend that he had to go in and re-solder all connections inside his 89 Bounder's converter, but not sure what he was experiencing to make him do it. I'll try the test.
