I have a houseboat that is essentially an RV on pontoons. It has a six gal Surburgan water heater. When I turn on the igniter (propane), it lights and heats up the water OK. The pressure relief valve starts leaking out water within 15 mins and leaks constantly...until I shut off the gas. The gas does not shut off by itself....runs continuously. I have replaced the hi-limit switch. I have also removed the anode rod, emptied and refilled the tank; was told I needed to do this to "replace the air bubble". The problem is not fixed. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?
What I gather from your description is that no matter how low you set the temperature setting, the burner will not cycle on and off as it should. Do you have a pilot or non-pilot model heater? |
