I just bought a '85 winnie and the roof air unit sounds like it has a hard time starting. the breaker pops after about 2-3 minutes. there seems to be a big drain on both the onan and the shore power plug as the fans slow down a lot when the compressor tries to start... when it finally gets running.. the air is ice cold. but it only runs 2-3 minutes and then the breaker pops. capacitors?? compressor?? or too little of extension to shore power. from rv to outlet about 14 2 wire..
Sounds as if the capacitor-start compressor motor isn't coming up to speed---not fast enough to open the contacts and cut the power demand---, or the contacts won't open, even though the motor does come up to speed. That would mean your 19.5 or so AC would be drawing 2-3 times that amount until the breaker popped. |
