Refrigerator not staying lit Al Vanek 5-31-01
HI My refrigerator runs for a few minutes and then the check light comes on. I am new to RVing and as a result pretty dumb about it. It lights and the flame looks good, but it just cuts out. Thanks for your help.

You did not mention model but if it is a dometic and fairly late model they have had lot of trouble with circuit boards. We have replaced hundreds over the last few years. If you have a dometic and open the access door from the back of the fridge outside, you should see a black box in the left bottom corner. That is usually the culprit. Check the link for other similar problems in the forum..

I had a similar problem with a 1987 model. I cleaned the burner and thermocouple carefully with a small wire brush and adjusted the thermocouple to within about a quarter inch of the burner. It worked. I have to admit this was a while back, the quarter inch is my memory. Might check your owner' manual or ask on this site about the dimension. Good luck.

Remember more now - it was the piezo igniter that, in addition to being cleaned, I moved to about a quarter inch from the burner. In my case, I think it had been poorly positioned by someone and with the scale buildup, couldn't throw a spark to clean metal. The thermocouple wasn't adjustable on mine nor did I move it. Sorry for any inconvenience.
