I replaced cracked manifolds on my 28'Bounder with a 460 engine last Fall and they have cracked again only 6000 miles later. I travel almost exclusively in the mountains of Montana pulling a 3500lb. trailer but always shift down and never push it hard. I had an enlarged muffler system installed supposedly to prevent future manifold problems. Any solution suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!
After all you have been through, I think it's time to install headers.... you would get away from the manifold problem, and improve performance and mileage.True they are a little pricey but no more problems after installation.Banks and Thorely makes good ones, as well some other manufacturers... hope this helps ...Good Luck

If you haven't already replaced the manifolds, there is a Tech Service Bulletin 98-15-6 from Ford on a fix to this problem. Ford should pay for at least part of it also. It involves replacing the manifolds not using gaskets and shorter studs and bolts. Worked for me over the past year in the mountains of Washington pulling a 4000 lb Blazer.
