A/c fan does fine, but will not put out cold air, any ideas??
As suggested when operating the thermostat listen for the compressor starting. If you hear the thermostat click but no compressor, could be the start relay. If no thermo click then probably the thermo. If both click and compressor starts but no cooling then check the unit for dirt buildup around the condensor coils restricting airflow or as suggested you might be low on Freon. If you are handy with a voltmeter you might want to check the circuit at start relay, thermo, etc. Be careful around the start and run capcitors since they can jolt you or cook your meter. In any case be very careful since you are dealing with 115V. Might do better to start with the power off and check continuity through everything. |
