I have a 1974 Airstream with a Carefree Awning. The material needs to be replaced but all hardware and springs seem to be in good shape. where can I get a period correct replacement for the material and is there maintenance required on the spring mechanism?
I've just purchased a Newmar motor home with a A&E awning that the seller told me had a bad spring in it. How do I determine if this is correct? I do not want to unwind this and not be able to rewind.
My A & E awning will not come unlocked and the lever has stripped. I now can move the shaft, but the awning will not unlock. How can I get it unlocked without taking it apart and unwinding the spring?
