Gas milage Rocky Wong 8-23-01
I'v been thinking on buying a motorhome and was wandering what the differance was in gas milage between a big block and a small block or between a 20 ft and a 26 ft if anyone has compared them please let me know thanx.
Re: Gas milage Shannon 1-1-05
My husband and I recently purchased him a 1979 Dodge Flair Motorhaome, and he took it to work for the first trip, and he got only 2 miles per gallon approximatly, I was curious what should this vehicle be getting??? Something seems very wrong with this. The vehicle only had about 60,000 miles on it.

With Chevy 454s I got 7.5 - 10 got the 7.5 with 25ft southwind..getting 9.8 with 33ft win. A lot depends on load rear ends, and transmission gearing, alignment, tires etc.

Re: firing order on 1976 (440) scott benson 4-1-06
Its been my experience that some mopar engines have the same firing order as the small block chevy. So can you give me the exact firing order on a 1976 (440)big block?

THANK YOU

There is almost no difference, the gas milage is determined by the frontal area of the coach , and the speed you go through the air.

Weight doesnt matter very much, and with a fairly new coach {less than 40 years} the choice of engine doesnt change the fuel use too mutch.

534 Fords get 2 to 4 mpg , but everything else is fine.

Right on the button. It takes a certain amount of power to overcome wind resistance, road angle, inertia, component friction, etc. To achieve this power, a certain amount of fuel must be converted into a useable form, (expanding gases), engine size doesn't change the equation, except for maximum engine output. Engine effeciency in converting the fuel into useable power will make a difference between makes, but there is not much difference in this respect between the different makes of engines.
