Milky substance in gas tank. by Larry
Post New Message 2001 ford Taurus 3.0 142k miles. just has fuel filter and pump changed, mechanic said milky substance in tank appeared to clog sock on pump. He cleaned it best he could. engine loses power after 30 or so miles. after waiting 15 mins will run fine for 10 miles or so then loses power again. exhaust system check by muffler shop so not Catalytic converter. Mechanic thinks sock clogging up again. suggest running several tanks of gas through it. Any suggestions on how to clean that stuff out with a chemical. understand now that only one bottle of additive per tank of gas. Had put all three in 3/4 tank of gas. Only ran 1/2 tank of gas through so far, afraid of breaking down on freeway. We have the Save and Clear tow trucks just waiting to pick you up.
