Re: HEATER PROBLEMS Wayne Tubman 12-28-13
The pipe coming from the thermostat housing has a rubber hose connected to the tap, I have replaced the hose and new clamps as well, but still it still leeks from the rear clamp. Any suggestions on how to rectify this problem would be appreciated. It is a 2006 Ford Territory TX.
Regards,
Wayne Tubman

Re: HEATER PROBLEMS Phil Feinstein 10-18-05
Replace the blend door actuator motor; They go bad regularly and will stick the blend door either full cold or full hot.

The motor is on the side of the heater box and if you take the radio out you can see it clearly. There are 3 seprate part numbers for this year thru 2001 so I reccomend pulling the old one before going to the dealer to get a new one. It's a $50 part and it's dealership only.

Hope that helps!
Re: HEATER PROBLEMS CB 10-24-05
Yep, it's the blend door all right but it's probably not the blend door motor but the door pivot shaft tiself. the bad news is that the replacing the door requires removal of the dash! try the fix at this link: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24962&page=1&pp=20. I did it 6 months ago on my wife's explorer and so far so good.

Good Luck
Re: HEATER PROBLEMS brad 5-14-08
Many ford ranger heater problems can be traced to broken blend doors. The HeaterTreater kit does a complete repair on the blend door malfunction that is common to 96-2004 Ford Rangers, quickly and without removing the dash. Every Ranger in this range either has, or will have, this common failure. The kit can be found on ebay by searching "heatertreater" (one word).
Re:how to replace heater blend door actuator egan 1-17-08
When the engine is turned on and when turned off, the heater unit ticks for a minute or longer than quites. I know that it is one of the motor's. However, I don't know where to start to fix it. If anybody has any idea's, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Re: HEATER PROBLEMS Barney 11-6-08
I have a 1995 Ford Ranger. The heater does not consistantly blow hot air. Sometimes it does, sometimes it only blows warm air. If I set the temp fully CCW, it always blows cold air. I've checked the blend door and motor actuator and they work. I've replaced the heater control value and radiator cap. I've flushed and back flushed the heater core at least six times. I've flushed the cooling system and replaced the coolant. I've disconnected the vacuum line to the heater control valve and the problem continues. Have I missed anything?
Heater Failing Deirdre 12-6-11
In my 2000 Ford Ranger (I am the original owner), my heater is failing. If I drive for a while with the heater off, when I first turn the heater on, I get a little bit of warm air but it turns cool and then cold after about 10 seconds. I have to turn it off again and wait. Then I do it again, turning it on just for about 5-10 seconds of warm air before it goes cold all over again. I can't get the consistent high heat I used to get and the winter temperatures here in the northwest are dropping fast.
Heater core? Blend door? Thermometer? None of these car parts are familiar to me but I'm sure a costly mechanic would know. What I need to know is, which one should I try fixing first?

Re: HEATER PROBLEMS dan boldman 7-23-10
My 1997 rangers heater smells and it now emitts smokey air when I first turn in on. I recently replaced the radiator and thermostat and have no leaks but my coolant level was really low when I checked it thismorning.

Thanks,
