I had same problem. I replaced my vacuum driven heater hose valve with a mechanical valve. It is operated by a cable,which I mounted in the dash area (removed existing cigarette lighter), and mounted cable push/pull type. Only had to drill a 1/4 inch hole in firewall. Now I control the heat manually and it works fine. Will fix the blend door at another time, if I ever have to remove the housing to fix something else. But my fix cost $50 in parts and should work well for now. My blend door kind of shattered, where the motors shaft enters the door, bet heat made the material shatter, Not under alot of stress, surprized it would break the way. |
