1985 Nuwa Hitchhiker Fufth Wheel Water Tank Replacement Dawn Nelson 9-30-15
I have found myself living in my RV full-time. I just purchased it and I will be slowly working through several issues over the next year to get it to my "happy" place. The first thing I would like to do is replace my old water heater. According to the list on the inside of the kitchen cabinet door, it has a MorFlo ESSRV6 hot water heater set-up. It's entirely possible that this system was already replaced with something else over the last 30 years, but I would not even know at this point where to begin looking. I am very new to rv-ing at all, but I learn fast. I really would like to replace it with an on demand tankless system. The park I live in uses standard RV hook-ups, so I will need it to specifically be an RV system. I am looking at Atwood's and Suburban's systems and I'm wondering what I will need exactly to make the switch as smooth as possible. I wouldn't mind hiring someone to come out and do the replacement professionally, providing that their prices are reasonable and I can find someone in my area who will come to my location to do the work. I would really appreciate any help and information you might be able to provide. Thank you for your time.

There is a sticker on the water heater just inside the water heater door with the make and model #.

A few things to think about.

1st You will hate an RV tankless water heater. They do not provide hot water at the flow rate you are used to. Go turn your hot shower faucet to full hot, no cold mixed in, now turn it down halfway toward off. This how much water will actually come out hot enough to shower in. I strongly recomend a custom installed home system instead, they work ok and provide real useable flow rates.

2nd This system will need a special kit if you live in an area that gets cold enough to freeze plumbing. Otherwise you get to buy a new water heater after it freexes solid.

To order the correct tankless RV system and installation parts: Measure the water heater door on the outside to get the opening size the water heater is to mount in. Now go to your prefered RV parts supplier and tell him the opening size and the full time use. He will be able to set you up.

As to a profesional instal, this 2 to 5 hours of custom work depending on your RV. Expect to pay good money for good work.

Finally it is a complicated device with fans and flow switches and lions and tigers oh my. It will break down and it is not an easy thing to repair when it does.

Every one our shop has done has disapointed the customer in some way and, knock on wood, not once a install or technition error. No comebacks is rare thing in the RV service business.

Good Luck
