|1978 Kings Highway front end shakes and wobbles when you go over a bump anyone have this or similar problem if so what do I need to fix the problem|
|Re: Front End||BUBBA THE BUS TECH||9-24-15|
|Known as a speed woble, Dodge Pick Up owners call it the "Death Woble", Motorcyclists call it Head shake or a Tank Slapper.|
Common problem When three things get out of specification.
1st Is steering component wear, King pins, tie rod ends, Spring Bushings etc.
2nd And some thing that must be looked at regardless of root cause. Steering box needs to be adjusted to take as much slop out as possible within the specified limits. CAUTION Often the "High Spot" in the steering box is off center and an over tight adjustment can cause jammed steering and a crash. Someone with experiance with this adjustment must do it for everyones safety. The high spot can also be excessively worn and then the steering box needs replacement.
3rd A steering damper, if equiped is it worn out? Can you add one because this may just fix the problem entirely. (Easy Short cut)
