Thinking about completely rebuilding a 1983 starcraft 19' starflyer.
Would anyone like to talk me out of this project?
Any comments or opinions?
I was hopeing to pull the entire camper off of the trailer, refinish the trailer and then use the old shell as a model...completely rebuild it!
Anyone out there ever done this?

I've never done it, but I've seen it done many times with varying degrees of success. Sounds like an awe-inspiring project!

The thing I'd be concerned with would be overloading the trailer with the new camper body. Scales would help to get a rough idea of how much the whole thing weighs and then how much just the trailer weighs.

It's a great chance to use non-traditional appliances as well (wood stoves come to mind as well as composting commodes).

Take a look at www.mrsharkey.com for some examples. The forum is also a good source for the "Home built" crowd.

Best of luck!
