I am in need of replacing the alternator on a 1984 Southwind on a P30 Chevy chassis with a 454 engine. Is the alternator the same as would have been on a 1984 one ton Chevy truck with the 454? I'm guessing it may be a good time to possibly replace it with a higher output alternator as well?? What amp output would be suggested as a replacement?

Once you remove it---the model # and amp output should be stamped into the frame,
you would need to make sure it will fit correctly--take it Advance or your auto parts place they should be able to replace it with exect & correct one--
