RV has two ac units. Back unit works with shore power or generator. Front unit will not run from generator but runs fine with shore power. Any ideas why?
SMALL GEN SET, WITH 30 AMP SERVICE AND 50 AMP SERVICE for /from shore power. Either way the system is probably limited to get your genset to survive. Good Luck
Thanks, Bubba. Would that be something typical--i.e. for the manufacturer to mismatch the genset with the coach power requirement? Also, I wonder why, if that were the case, that the front unit would not run if the back unit were shut off? Unless, I guess, the unit were designed to only run the front unit from shore. I'm very much a rookie to all this.
I think the problem is solved. From looking at various postings, I realized there are two different sets of circuit breakers. One at the point of connection for shore power--much like in a regular home, and the other as part of the genset. One of the ones on the genset was switched off. When I reset it, I was able to run both units from the genset. Of course, I don't know why the one at the genset was off--so I could be dealing with a different problem later--but for now, seems like both units are running OK. Thanks for the responses.
