When turing on my norcold frig to auto(plugged in to electric), the lp gas burner lights the frig, it will not run on electric. I tested the plug and it is okay. The fuse in the circuit board in the back of the frig is okay as well. any suggestions on how to fix the problem.
Hi Rick, Sounds like the 120V heating element has burned out. It's sticking out of the flue above the burner, has two wires going to it from the circuit board. You can ohm it out, or check at the board connection for 120V. If there's 120V there and the element isn't getting hot, it's toast. If it's not stuck... it should pull out by rocking it back and forth while lifting upward on it. Could take some force if stuck. Unplug the 120V before removing. Good luck!
My norcold had done the same thing. I checked the element and the fuse in the board but showing okay. What we found out after trying everything, the circuit board had a hair line crack and needed to be replaced. It ended up costing $67.38 to fix the circuit board. Hope this helps
I have a fridge that works on power and on gas but it is not very cold on them. the freezer is not bad but fridge part is not cold maybe 60 or 15 16 c does this mean the unit is now good or can i do something about it. the unit is older. from a 1983 motorhome.
I have a 1994/5 Norcold fridge/freezer model #6162. I just bought the 5th wheel and took it out for a shakedown cruise. The fridge works perfectly on gas (when set to gas), but when set to auto when plugged in the AC lights up on the panel indicator but the unit does not operate (no cold happens!). It also doesn't then switch to LP as I gather it is supposed to do. Any ideas?? Since it works fine on gas I assume it is an electrical issue rather than a refrigerant issue. Help please? Thanks
My fridge in my trailer stopped working on AC. When I turn it on it goes directly to the gas mode, there is no sign of any power, the fridge light does not come on, however if I push the high huminity button the light comes on. Someone told me this coul be a battery problem, does that make any sense? Thanks for any help.
It cost me twenty five cents to fix. It was a 5A tube fuse. I checked it and thought it was good but gave it another look toady and the fridge worked. So happy and want to thank you all for your replies.
Our norcold had done the same thing. We checked the element, fuse, plug and the GFI everything showing okay. After running the frige on propane for about 3 hrs, we switched the mode back to AC and the frige works fine. We think that there may have been some kind of condensation built up?
