Hi All
I have a duo 901 furnace, everything runs good now.. except now when it starts up, it pops and pops..something it has to ignite more then once.. making loud poping sounds which is gas going all the way outside before it lights.. any ideas? Ive tried adjusting the regulator, the air shutter.. anyone have this problem?

Hi Ray, Hate to be the bearer of bad news... this series Duo Therm are known for safety problems. You probably have a crack or hole in the burner chamber. Carbon Monoxide poisoning is possible. I advise you to junk this furnace and get a new one. Suburban SF series are probably the easiest swap. Some mod's required but less than an Atwood. Don't try to fix it, JUNK IT!! Seriously! Ray - I agree with Keith - This gun-type furnace was exceptionally efficient but tough on the combustion chamber. You will probably find the stainless chamber feed at least partially melted. CO poisoning is pretty remote as the static pressure on the outside of the chamber is greater than the pressure on the inside. Only the 20,000 Btu units survived a decent service time. Try the Suburban and take all the kinks out of any flex ducting. William
