I have a 1981 pace arrow 28ft class A with a Dodge 440. Motorhome runs fine loaded without small boat trailer, with the trailer it acts like it has absolutely no power after about 1 mile of pulling boat. Pulls good for the first mile... Checked timing, all in spec...... Any help would be appreciated.
I would start by checking a few things right off, voltage out of the ignition switch to the coil etc, engine temp, the most probable if it carborated is fuel pressure. If the tank has crud in it it could plug off the sock in the tank that is the first pre filter, the dirt could fall off over an hour or so shut down. The way to check without dropping the tank is wait until the power goes away and compare fuel pressure at the carb inlet to what it had after the cold start. The fuel pressure will vary but shouldnt change a whole bunch. Carborated engines run under 10 psi fuel pressure usually so a proper calibrated guage is needed and a carfull instal to prevent problems and serious and perhaps fatal fuel fires. Then there is the carb itself, they were known to be problimatic. Good Luck
Check the Tranny oil. replace the tranny filter & clean the pan. pour two can of cleaner solvent "transX" & trannny oil according to the oil limit to tranny. See what will happens. you might have to check kickbad adjustment too. good luck
