I was wondering if i can put a 22 gal gas tank where the 40 gal gas tank was? the problem is i can not find parts anywhere for my 40 gal tank. i need a sending unit for it and searched everywhere even the dealer told me good luck. so i want to put a stock ford e-350 tank there and use that sending unit. i know i have to stop more for gas but if it works its ok with me. please someone let me know if this would work.... thank you
The 22-gallon tank will fit, but may need slightly different mounting hardware.
Keep in mind that Ford fuel gauge senders don't vary from model to model and that the resistance of the sender doesn't change, only the length of the float arm changes. If the float arm is intact from your sender, it can be swapped onto a new sender. You don't need to replace the entire assembly, just the sender which attaches with 2 screws.
Does the fuel gauge on the dash go to "Full" when you short the sender wires together and "Empty" when they are open?
I went to that site and it was the wrong one, i need one for a 1987 ford e-350 rv cutaway 7.5 with a 40 gallon tank behind the rear axle, the sender bolts to the tank it does not have a lock ring. i have been looking for one for a year now and no one can help me out so far, i was thinking of putting a 22 gal gas tank from a 87 ford e-350 van, but i need to know if it would fit?
I found a fuel tank sender for your vehicle from Dorman products at http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQFordQQE-350_EconolineQQDormanQQFuel_SenderQQ19861987QQRB692115.html?apwcid=P1135867996W43b3f85c7ab9e
If the sender is all that's bad, that can usually be replaced without replacing the entire assembly.
There is nothing left of the old sender at all, the motorhome was in a garage for the last 13 years, it would not start so i found out no fuel was the problem, took tank out and unbolted sender, everything was rotted off due to mosture in the tank, it was the only thing rotted on the whole motorhome, so i just need to get a new sendind unit or a 22 gal tank with sending unit to replace the 40 galllon tank, i have the ford part # for the sender but no one has it any where, tried dealers, after market and junk yards, no luck
The reason it is a u is because it is a ford cutaway van, it is made with just a cab and sent off to be made into a motorhome, i was told by ford that is how it was made, the company that finished it was honey
I BUILT A CUSTOM 50 GAL TANK FOR MINE AND USED AN AFTER MARKET SENDING UNIT FOR SAME YEAR FORD. AS LONG AS THE RESISTANCE IS CORRECT/SAME ANY SENDING UNIT THAT YOU CAN SCREW/BOLT ON WILL WORK.
Ok it is #e6uz9275ba good luck, i just went and ordered a 22 gallon tank and sending unit to install in my motorhome, i am going to make it work, like i said i tried everywhere to find one and no luck and i have my own garage so i have lots of parts dealers and they all say the same thing, but you can try if you like
