We have the dometic comfort control 5 button thermostat. Worked fine last time we used it but now when I turn it on you see the digital readings come up for a sec or 2 and then it seems dead. Does that seem like we need a new thermostat.
Rosana - The CCC display gets its 12 volt energy from the zone 1 control board (in or just below the zone 1 air conditioner). There is a 3 amp fuse on that board that could be making poor contact or it could be blown in an unusual fashion that allows just a little curent to bleed thru. There may be another fuse in your fuse panel -- check it also Seriously doubt that it is the thermostat. Borrow a thermostat from a friend and try it. It wont damage the thermostat. Good luck William
Hi William, thnk you for the reply. Tried what you suggested, no luck. Here is a little more detail though!!
When we turn on the thermostat, it comes on, you can see zone 1 and 2 and cyxle between the 2 for all modes EXCEPT furnace. furnace mode doesn't show up at all. After it is on maybe 45 seconds or so, all the modes disappear, the only thing that shows is the zone 1 and zone 2 readings. If you turn it off and then on again it starts the same process over again. At no point does the air conditioner come on. One other thing we did was to get a phone cord and plug it directly into the board, nothing shows up on the thermostat at all. Maybe a phone cord is the wrong type??Thanks for your help!!
Just as a follow up to our problem, the wire from the thermostat to the dc board was bad. Thankfuly it was a simple problem! It looks like a simple phone cord and basically it is but when you get a new cord you have to cut one end of and make each wire run straight through as the phone cord has 2 wires reversed.
We have this comfort control center in our Dutch Star. Worked fine until yesterday. Went off. Control center does not even light up. I checked the breaker--good, the fuse---good, the 3amp fuse in the AC control panel in both front and rear conditioners---good. I have AC going into the conditioner, but can't find the DC. Would this indicate a bad AC control board?
