Magne Tek 6345 Power Converter Dan Roth 4-8-09
We purchased a used trailer with a Magne Tek 6345 Power Converter which has never charged the batteries. Recently, I pulled the unit out and discovered that the cooling fan was not working. As I pulled on the wire, the whole thing including socket came out of the circuit board (no solder)and it appears the overheating caused other components to fail. There appear to be two sources of power coming from the battery charger. One which gets somewhat rectified (which is working) the other which feeds the battery and the 3 ACC fuses which are not working.

I am reading that many other people are having the same problem. Does anyone know if the upgraded 7300 has any problems. I seems like this should have been recalled by Magna Tek.

No More than any other brand Converter. We see alot of converter failures and Parralax/ magnetek seem to be abouty the same as everybody else Good Luck

Correction: I guess it is the Parallax/Magnetek 7345R that is being used for the upgrade. Anyone know if there are any problems with this upgrade?

I do repairs on RV's in Florida. I have to say....between the heat and the fact we have hundreds of full timers and seasonal campers here, we have very little problems with the 6345 or the 7345. Some of these units are plugged in for years at a time. I think it has a lot to do with the amount of use and battery condition. I have seen units with two batteries have much less electrical problems than units with only one.
