I'm very happy with my 2003 STS but am concerned with the transmission. Whenever I leave the car sit for a few days and start it and try to back it out of my garage, the very first time I put it into reverse, there is a very hard shift into reverse. This is so hard it really scared me the first time it happened. It seems to be worse when it's cold outside (the garage is not heated)and it only happens on the very first shift. The dealer can't find anything wrong and has lowered the fast-idle speed (first to 1250 rpm and then to 1,000), but I think this is just masking the problem.
I sure would appreciate thoughts anyone might have as my warranty is about to end.
