I have a 1995 National RV with a Dometic RM2611 refrigerator. I changed the motherboard out with a Dinosaur Electronics Micro P-711 which solved my check light problem and the fridge worked nicely. I took the MH up to Canada for 3 weeks, and the freezer kept things frozen, and the refrigerator kept things nice and cold. I just got back from a weekend trip and the freezer only got cold enough to keep things cool, and the refrigerator did not even get cold.
Okay: Here's what I did:
1. All loose rust has been dislodged
2. Burner tube is brand new along with the electrode and thermocouple
3. Did not clean the gas orifice; not sure where that is. However, I don't think that's the problem because the fridge does not get cold when plugged into 110 socket
4. I do have a bright blue flame with just a hint of yellow and a bit of a roar.
5. I ran test at home (SJ CA) to see if water would freeze.
My test results are back. I checked and double checked my system made sure I was level and restarted the fridge using the gas setting. I started it last night at 9:30pm on level 4 and I checked it this morning at 6:30 (8 hours later) the cup of water that I put in the freezer was frozen and the drinks that I put in the fridge were cold. So I concluded that being in the 125 degree temperature had a lot to do with what I experienced. So now my question is how do I avoid this from happening in the future? I travel to Arizona quite a bit and can not afford to keep throwing food away. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.
Fridge works great in temperature below 85 degrees; however, we also have a boat and spend most of our time at a lake where the temp is consistently above 90 degrees. I had an old Norcold in my 92 Winnebago and it never had a problem keeping thing frozen and/or cold. As a matter of fact, the veggies in the drawer would freeze if I had the temp up too high. I have tried everything with this fridge from leaving the access door off, added 3 fans, even diverted the air conditioner exhaust, and nothing seems to fix the problem. I'm beginning to think that the fridge is tired cause I'm tired of trying to diagnose it. I am so frustrated; I'm ready to just go get a new one installed. Can anyone here help me????
Your fridge is working against outside air tempurature and any solar heating effect. To maximise the operation of your fridge allways try to park the unit so the fridge side will be in the shade. Do you have a fan to create the air circulation in the back of the fridge? There are kits available for this. I use a recovered converter fan and have it set up in the bottom of the fridge cavity below the coils and blowing straight up. This helps a lot. The kits normally come with a 80 degree F temp switch, I have a leftover toggel from some where for mine. I don't think your fridge is the problem. I don't think a new one will fix it. Your best bet is to do the kind of thing I have above and it should work better. Hopefully good enough. Good Luck
Yes I do have a fan below the and two above to pull the air through. Well I guess I will have to keep a cooler full of ice near by on the hot days. Thanks for the reply
I have the 2611 also, my freezer will get to temp in two days. the problem is thay the fridge wont. It wont cool down much at all. We used to have no trouble with it.It wont cool down on either ac or propane. The cooling system is on 5 and the check light never has come on without me making it come on. am I looking at maybe a mother board? I havent cleaned out the burner tube or the gas oriface, Just bought the trailer and was not aware of all the general maintenance.Although wouldnt all of that only hinder the gas side? So that doesnt really help me, but I will do that anyway. Please help if you can and help me choose the best board if that is the case.
I, too, just bought a travel trailer with a Dometic RM 2611 and I cannot get it to cool off at all. I have tried overnight with AC and for hours on gas, but it will not cool down. I live in Phoenix, AZ and the temps have been 105-114 lately, but they cool off to a nice 90 at night. I cannot get the fridge or freezer to cool off at all, in fact they get hotter or stay the same. Can anyone help me figure this out or do I need a new fridge/freezer? No check light on gas, I can hear the propane flame roaring.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!! I am new at travel trailer ownership.
