We recently purchased a 2008 Winnebago Journey 39Z
It is on a 2007 Freightliner XCS chassis.
It has developed a noise which I will describe as an exhaust pipe hitting the frame, except it is sounds as if it is coming from near the front axle.
It happens anywhere above 3 MPH when the front tire passes over a rough spot & it is in time with the feedback from the steering wheel.
I first tried locating it myself, then took to my RV dealer, then to a Freightliner dealer. So far, no progress has been made.
We are just wondering if anyone has experience with similar situation or has a good trick for locating the noise?
OK, we think we have solved the noise problem & feel there must be many more out there, similar to ours.
Hope this helps someone.
It appears the top mounting bracket for the shock absorber has a 9/16" hole in it with a 1/2" bolt installed. This lets this 1/2" bolt move back and forth 1/16" before hitting the other side of the bracket hole as the shock absorber trys to do it job.
