Coleman roof air Rick 6-23-08
I have a coleman unit on my 1993 30 ft. Ford E350 Conquest. The unit works pretty good and gets cold but the unit seems to cycle off too early. Shouldn't the unit (compressor) keep running to the desired temp. before the comp. shuts down? What can cause the comp. to cycle off before it should? I have cleaned the coils and everything looks good.

Thanks for any help

I think it could be your thermostat. The thermostat tells the compressor when to run and when to cut off. It could be as simple as a misaligned pointer...pointer may be set at 72 and the thermostat just cuts off before the desired temp is acquired. I would check the actual temperature with a seperate thermometer and find out where the thermostat must be set to obtain the desired temperature.

You may be able to adjust the thermostat to reflect the actual temperature, or you might have to replace the thermostat.

Just my $.02 worth,
John

Could you tell me where the thermos stat is located? Is it under the cover on top of the RV or the cover inside the RV?

Some air conditioners have the temperature setting on the unit itself.

My 95 C on a Ford E350 chasis has cold air ducts in the ceiling and the thermostat is located on the front wall of the bedroom, looks like and functions just like a house thermostat. You can turn the A/C and heat on and off, set the temp., set the fan speed and whether the fan operates automatically or is on continously.

Hope this helps,

John

I have a 1997 Coleman roof Air Conditioner (13.5 M) on my RV. It will run on low on my household 15 amp breaker however it will not run on a 3000 watt RV generator. What might the problem be? Thanks

HI I have a 98 model gulf stream sunsport the coleman Ducted a/c unit has been working great, but today it started throwing breaker on generator so I plugged into house and it throws breaker there too. The a/c is blowing ice cold until it throws breaker lasts about 10 minutes before throwing breaker on house. I Looked at roof unit the compressor is getting hot but no mud dobbers and the coils are very clean, do you have any ideas what could be wrong. Thanks James

I have a 1993 Carriage Commander with a Coleman Mach ducted roof a/c. It has been running perfect - no laboring or grinding, anything - untill we turned it off the other day by turning the thermostat up when we left the camper. When we came back it wouldn't turn on. Not the a/c. Not the fan - at either speed. Nothing. My filter is clean, connections solid, power hasn't changed. I'm hoping maybe my thermostat simply fritzed internally (althought the internal fuse is good). Any ideas on how to confirm the problem before I spend a bunch of money?
