The bottom legs that mount to the motorhome at the bottom have got me worried. The mounts are loose and the fiberglass is damaged. I would like to reinforce this area and remount the legs of the awning.
I know that others surely have had similar problems. How have you delt with it and what measures have you taken to secure the legs ?
Can a piece of aluminum plate or steel plate be mounted on the inside of the glass and another just under the mounting bracket. Then the whole thing bolted together provide the strength needed ?
Jack, the lower mounting brackets that hold the bottom of the adjustable awning leg are designed to be mounted into the coach at the floor line thus attaching to something very substantial as there is a lot of strain placed there when the awning is out and the wind is blowing. Go online and read the installation instructions from your awning supplier. Attaching to just a piece of fiberglass will not survive on the long haul. == BUT, yes, you can reinforce the back of the fiberglass with something like a 1/2" plywood and fiberglass under, over and around to make it stronger.
