IF YOU HAVE A CHEVROLET 454 UNDER YOUR HOOD NOT TO BAD, REMOVE THE FRONT TIRES FOR GOOD ACESS. GM HAS 3 CORNERED THREADED BOLT WITH A 9/16" BOLT HEAD. YOU MUST REMENBER THAT THESE BOLTS CAN BREAK OFF VERY QUICK BEFORE YOU KNOW IT. TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND LET THE ENGINE RUN, SHUT IT OFF THEN SPRAY PENETRATING OIL ON THE BOLT AND WHERE THE MANIFOLDS MEET THE HEAD, THEN TAKE A HAMMER AND A CENTER PUNCH AND AND TAP THE BOLT IN THE CENTER TO BREAK THE RUST LOOSE. WHEN YOU TRY TO REMOVE THE BOLT LOOSEN TURN CLOCKWISE THEN COUNTER CLOCKWISE, WHEN DOING THIS YOU WILL BREAK THE BOLT LOOSE. WHEN THE BOLT STARTS TURNING FREELY TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE ALL THE WAY OUT. CLEAN BOTH THE HEAD AND THE MANIFOLD OF OLD GASKET AND RUST. I HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH THE MR.GASKET BRAND. REPLACE THE BOLT IF RUSTED VERY BAD. TORQUE THE BOLT DOWN TO 30 TO 35 FOOT POUNDS. START THE ENGINE AND LET RUN UNITL TEMP REACHS NORMAL RUNNING TEMP THEN RETORQUE. GOOD LUCK |
