I pre cool my fridge 12 hours or so Usally by turning it on the night before departure or the morning before an evineing departure. It should be able to cool fridge and contents in 8 hours. I usually wait for it to be cold then load pre cooled and frozen stuff last thing before departure. The other system works just as well but I am usualy not that organised. Good Luck
