We were given a 1972 House Boat with twin Chevrolet V8 Gary Marine engines. We've been told they burned 24 GPH (gallons per hour) so the boat was parked. The motors were pulled to be replaced with the GM 5.7 diesel engines which they were told would only burn 12 GPH. A divorce stopped everything and here 15 years later we were given a free boat for hauling it off! We were told we could put the "iron duke" 4 cylinder or a Chevrolet 6 in the boat and get better gallons per hour over the 5.7 diesel but we still have the Chevrolet V8s that were pulled (they were filled with oil when pulled for long term storage). Guidance is what we need if someone can help us out. What will interchange with the 1972 350 Chevrolet block? Engine sizes, years...? Thanks, ehh58
First of all........I doubt very much the enormous fuel consumption....maybe at full throttle......second......if they are Gray Marine engines....you dont have Chev motors..these are AMC engines....most likely 327 ci......how do you know they are 350s??? if they are 327 fireball gray marine engines in running order...sell them....or keep them....how much??
