I have a 2003 Coachman with a 5 gallon tank hot water heater - propane. I was out getting it ready for the big weekend and started up the hot water heater and noticed that there is a steady flame coming out the exhaust tube. Any idea what may be causing this ? I let it burn for about 5 minutes then thought better of it and shut it down because it doesnt look good to me.
Sounds pretty scary, I have seen this happen on a black black night but if you can see flame durring day light that aint good. Need to ask yourself a couple questions. First has any repair work been done on the water heater. If so They may have damaged the orifice by blowing through it with high pressure air or pushing a tool through it. Next and most probable is that the LPG regulator has gone bad and is supplying to much lpg to the appliance. This needs to be checked. If your stove behaves like a bonfire rather than normal operation, don't worry about checking just replace. And yes it is possible to adjust it but if they go bad like this any adjustment is just temporary, the problem will return. Good Luck
