I have a Durango 5th wheel trailer with a Coleman Mach 3 8333 series ducted with wall mount t-stat. When I turn the unit on, the fan works fine in either speed, heater works fine, but ac does not cool. I've opened the shroud, and the compressor is running fine (or at least sounds like it is). Compressor is very hot when running. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?? Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Rodney,
If the compressor is running??? and the ac is not cooling, then your condensor coil may be dirty. You can easily determine this on a coleman rooftop AC unit but looking at the condensor on the back of the ac. If it is dirty then take a water hose and hose it out (you will be surprised at the amount of dirt that can accumalate in these). Be sure not to use high pressure as this will smash the fins flat. Does it cool better at night? This is usually a good indication that it is dirty.
Yes, the compressor is running (at least it sounds like it is to me). And no, the unit does not cool day or night. I've cleaned all the fins, all the filters, everything i could think of.
