1993 Toyota leaking Christina 3-25-08
I don't know a lot about cars but I took my car to a Toyota dealer to have it fixed. They put in a new flex plate and some bolts. About a week later, I took it to have the exhaust put on at a different place. The mechanic there noticed that there was a leak. I took it back to the place that fixed the flex plate and they told me it was the torque converter seal. My car was not leaking before I had them fix the flex plate. Now they say that it's going to cost me an additional $450 to have that fixed. My question is, could they have messed my seal up when they took the tranny out to fix my flex plate? I just don't want to pay for something that might be their fault after already paying them $1,450. I put in some Lucas transmission stop leak but it doesn't seem to be helping. Please help!!

If it is a seal leak, Lucas stop leak isn't going to help. Why did you have the flex plate replaced? They almost never go bad. If they put to much side torque on the torque converter it could create a leak.
